Cookie policy
Reading traceroll.com sets no cookie, which is why no banner asked you to accept anything. Logging in sets one, strictly necessary, to keep you logged in.

Why there is no banner
European law lets a website store information on your device, or read what is already there, only with your consent, unless it is strictly necessary for the service you asked for. The rule is Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive; in Belgium, Article 10/2 of the Law of 30 July 2018 (in French). It covers cookies and anything that does the same job: local storage, tracking pixels, fingerprinting.
Traceroll stores only what is strictly necessary on your device: no cookie while you read it, and nothing about you. So there is nothing to ask.
The cookies Traceroll sets
| Cookie | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| tr_session | Keeps you logged in. It holds a random key that opens your session, of which Traceroll keeps only a scrambled form. Your browser sends it to traceroll.com only, and no script on the page can read it. | 60 days, or until you log out |
| tr_google | Set only while you log in with Google, so that the answer coming back from Google can be checked as the one you asked for. | Ten minutes at most, removed once you are in |
| tr_me | Set only in the browsers of Traceroll’s own administrators, when they open its statistics, so that their own visits are not counted. | One year |
| tr_link | Set only when you connect Traceroll for Windows and need to log in first: it keeps the computer’s connection code until you are in. | Ten minutes at most, removed once you are in |
| tr_connect | Set only when you connect an AI app to Traceroll and need to log in first: it keeps the app’s request until you are in. | Ten minutes at most, removed once you are in |
All five are set by traceroll.com itself, are strictly necessary, and are set only when you take the step that needs them.
Nothing else on your device
Besides the cookies, Traceroll keeps only this in your browser, and nothing in it is about you:
- A service worker, a small script the pages install, with one picture kept beside it, Traceroll’s icon: when a page can’t load for want of a network, it shows a page that says so instead of the browser’s error.
- In the phone apps from the App Store and Google Play only: the project the clock last ran on (tr_clock_last, in local storage), so that it offers it again; and, in the Android app, a note that the page is inside the app (tr_app, in session storage, gone when the app closes).
No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, no advertising or social media scripts. The language you read in is part of the address, /fr/ or /es/, not a preference saved in your browser.
Visits are counted without cookies; the privacy policy explains how.
Other sites
The fonts come from Google Fonts, on Google’s servers. No cookie is sent or set for them, though Google sees your IP address.
“Continue with Google” and connecting Google Calendar take you to Google’s own pages, and paying takes you to Stripe’s checkout page. Those sites set their own cookies, under their own policies (Google, Stripe). Nothing of theirs loads on traceroll.com.
Removing them
Logging out deletes tr_session. You can also delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser’s settings: you will then simply need to log in again.
Changes
If Traceroll ever needs a cookie that is not strictly necessary, it will ask for your consent first, and this page will say so. Questions: hello@traceroll.com.
